One of the many versatile uses of 又 is to emphasize negation, giving your negative sentence a little kick!

Structure

In this structure, 又 is used to emphasize that something didn't happen or is not the case, or will not happen. It's most often used with 不 and 没. This grammar structure is often used in an accusatory context.

Examples

这些菜又没坏，为什么要扔？Zhèxiē cài yòu méi huài, wèishénme yào rēng?These food aren't bad. Why would you throw them away?
今天又不热，还要开空调吗？Jīntiān yòu bù rè, háiyào kāi kōngtiáo ma?It's not hot today. Do you still want to turn on the air conditioner?
又不是工作日，起那么早干吗？Yòu bù shì gōngzuòrì, qǐ nàme zǎo gànmá?It's not a workday today. Why get up so early?
你现在又不忙，来帮我一下。Nǐ xiànzài yòu bù máng, lái bāng wǒ yīxià.You're not busy. Come and help me.
不要生气，我又不是故意的。Bùyào shēngqì, wǒ yòu bù shì gùyì de. Don't be mad.It really wasn't on purpose.
我又没吃过，我怎么知道好不好吃？Wǒ yòu méi chī guo, zěnme zhīdào hǎo bu hǎochī?I haven't eaten it. How would I know if it is tasty or not?
问我干吗？我又不知道。Wèn wǒ gànmá? Wǒ yòu bù zhīdào. Why ask me? I definitely don't know.
孩子又没错，打他干吗？Háizi yòu méi cuò, dǎ tā gànmá?The child didn't do anything wrong. Why hit him?
又没下雨，带伞干吗？Yòu méi xiàyǔ, dài sǎn gànmá? It's not raining. Why are you bringing the umbrella?
又不关你的事，问那么多干吗？Yòu bù guān nǐ de shì, wèn nàme duō gànmá?It's not any of your business. Why ask so much?
