Communicate in RussianPart 3 (1972)Dade County Public Schools, Miami, Fla.This third volume of a three-part series intended to follow the Quinmester course
"Survive a Russian Party" prescribes broad goals and performance objectives for the
development of listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills. Cultural objectives
and desirable student attitudes are suggested. Grammatical study of the past tense
and the genitive case leads to greater flexibility in spoken and written
communication. A vocabulary list and references are included. For the companion
documents, see FL 003 640 and FL 003 641. (RL)U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION & WELFARE OFFICE OF EDUCATIONTHIS DOCUMENT HAS BEEN REPRODUCED EXACTIY AS RECEIVED FROM THE PERSON OR ORGANIZATION!

Expansion of materialsThis course is intended to follow the Dade County Schools' Division of Instruction
course # 7543.04 entitled Communicate in Russian - Part
2.It must be noted that this is the fourth course in a logical sequence, and possibly
the last course prior to a vacation quinmester. It is therefore advisable to encourage
students to continue to review their Russian while not in the classroom. It is helpful
to note that by this time they are better equipped to use Russian in a more practical
sense than in the past. The three units presented in this course utilize typical audio-lingual methods, a
review of which might prove beneficial prior to instruction. But note that at this time
in/the course sequence more time should be spent on writing. The teacher's edition of the text, and the other publisher-supplied materials ( test
manual, exercise workbook) provide thorough expansion of text content. Inclusion of
music and other cultural material are important additions to the course» for they are
not only valuable didactic aids, but interesting as well. Two types of vocabulary list are included. The lists for each unit allow for
teacher-made drills and tests. The combined list for units 1-11 in a valuable aid for
writing recombination material. There is a similar list for the previous quin course
which night serve a useful purpose in the earlier part of this quin.Should time remain after the teacher has been satisfied that the students have
mastered the objectives of this quin, proceed to the next unit. ( It is suggested that
the class proceed no further than the completion of unit 12, for unit 13 is long and
complex). In the event that student have not yet mastered the material from the previous quin (
or its equivalent ),it is suggested that the teacher find the average level of the
students and attempt to teach or reteach the basic elements necessary for success in
this quin prior to the initiation of the content of this course.Sample evaluationL-1You will hear a short narrative in Russian. Then you will hear
questions on that selection. After each question, you will hear three

discussed in class. Choose two, and giving as much detail as possible,
compare ( show both similarities and differences) to a similar aspect of
American society.Trade exhibitions Teen summer activities Construction in Russia Winter in Russia Cars and drivingA-1-3Attitude change is difficult to evaluate except for observation of the
pupil's active interest in the language in all its phases and in the
people who speak it. He should display an attitude of sympathetic
understanding toward the culture, its people, and its language. He
should demonstrate his awareness of some of the many reasons for
studying Russian. Perhaps the best way to evaluate this would be by his
desire to continue his study of the language. To facilitate as objective
an evaluation as possible, the following guide for noting activities of
each student i.e.. suggested:ReferencesBOOKHarcourt, Prace & World, Inc., Publishers. AIM Russian 1,
