                          Notes to the Basic Sentences
1	ein paar corresponds to the English "a couple" in the loose sense of quantity meaning "two or more but pobably less than ten".
2	etwas Passendes. An adjective after etwas or nichts may function as a das-noun. In the writing system it is therefore usually capitalized, and it has the endings of the adjective-noun sequence or the adjective standing alone referring to a das-noun.
3	etwas Unterwäsche. Etwas may be followed by a singular noun without a specifier; it functions in this case as an indefinite quantity word.
* teuer is the form of the adjective as a predicate, when it has no ending.
When endings are added the stem often appears as teur-, and the forms teures, teure, teuren, occur along with teueres, teuere, teueren, etc.
