Three Stars Temple 三星殿

The Three Stars Temple 三星殿 (Sān Diàn) is where people come to ask for happiness, prosperity, and longevity and good health.

On the east side of the temple stands the God of Longevity 寿星 (Shòu Xīng) who also brings people good health and cures ills. In the middle stands the God of Happiness 福星 (Fú Xīng) who brings happiness, good fortune, and blessings. His name is translated by Baiyun Guan as the "God of Luck." On the west side of the temple people may pray to the God of Prosperity 禄星 (Lù Xīng), who may bring wealth, but is really in charge of making things run smoothly; the harvest comes in on time, the son gets a new job, there is food on the table and clothes on your back. His name is translated by Baiyun Guan as the "God of High Official Rank," recalling the time when the examination system was used to move up in government and society. He is pictured above.
