Destruction of Qianmen Hutong
前门胡同的扯破

The central courtyards of the hutongs were gardens. It is very common to have a tree or two in the garden. Some of the hutongs even had a bit of grass, but usually any garden area was devoted to vegetables. Below, the grass can always grow on the roof!
