Qianmen 前门
Archery Door

Double metal doors protect the entrance. The doorway is 40 feet high to accommodate the Emperor's carriage and procession. When the emperor would make a visit to Tian Tan (Temple of Heaven) to pray for good harvests, the procession would enter the city through this gate. Each contingent of the military and the ministries would carry bright colorful banners.
