Looking down Qianmen Dajie, it appears storybook perfect. There is a feeling of unreality that has been compared to Disney, but Disney would have made it more real. The lack of trees is sorely felt. The trees made this one of the nicest walks on a hot Beijing day and gave the street a human dimension.
