Most of the stores had not yet opened, some were not yet occupied. The local government counsel is hoping to attract traditional Chinese stores to the area. However, H & M and Apple are targeting Qianmen for new stores. It will be interesting to see how this fairyland develops. The investment has to be paid for with very high rents. The mix of stores will be crucial to the success of the street. There are a lot of lonely upscale stores in Beijing.
