The giant panda 大猫熊 (dàxióngmāo) is indigenous to the western mountains of China. They live in the mountains and valleys above 5,000 feet in forested regions that are heavy with bamboo. The air is moist and it's often foggy. The bamboo provides 99% of the diet for the panda. They can eat meat, but do so rarely. |
