The ring-tailed lemur, 环尾狐猴 (huánwěi húhóu), is classified as Lemur catta. It is indigenous to Madagascar. The ring-tailed lemur is threatened with extinction by the spread of humans into its natural habitat. It's very popular in zoos and breeds well in captivity, so there are quite a few world-wide. The zoo population is no substitute for having Lemurs in their own wild form. |
