The filling was prepared in the kitchen, but here's the end product. All sorts of fillings are possible. Most include Chinese cabbage for crispness, but all sorts of vegetables are possible. There are vegetarian jiaozi, as well as jiaozi with pork, beef, chicken, or shrimp. Celery, large scallions, carrots, or other firm vegetables make great fillings either alone or combined with meat or eggs. Then you can spice them to your heart's content. I like adding curry powder, but that isn't traditional. |
