Broom and handle, bee hives in the background

Farm Implements

In the foreground, the tines of a new broom are being flattened. These brooms are very effective. In the background, a handle for a plow or other implement is being bent to shape. The wood is wetted periodically and the weight adjusted to get the desired shape. The resulting piece will be both strong and have a slight spring to it. The flexibility both prevents splitting and adds to the leverage of the implement.
