Gate to the Old Village

The gate is fronted by a wall. I am standing in front of the wall. A beautiful picture would be painted on the fronting wall, or perhaps a poem would be written or inscribed. Old superstition says that you don't allow spirits direct access to a door, but pure practicality says that the fronting wall blocks and breaks up winds that would otherwise whistle through the narrow streets of the village kicking up dust and debris.
