Deng Yan 邓琰 (Deng Shiru 邓石如) (1743-1805)
Regular script
Deng Yan was born in Huaining, Anhui Province. His designated name was Wanbo 顽伯 and his literary names were Shiru 石如 and
Wanbai Shanren 完白山人 . He was considered a master in all four major calligraphic scripts and introduced new ideas to seal
carving and started the Deng school of seals. He specialized in zhuanshu and lishu with a strong influence from the Han dynasty.
