| This jar, made of sand and clay, was excavated at the Banpo site. Notice the development of ridged handholds. They would prevent the jar from slipping out of wet hands. The ridges around the center would make the pot stronger. An exact date was not given by the museum.
The rough sand and clay pots were one of several types of pottery found at the site. Many of this type of pot had scorch marks, either from use or from the original firing method. |
