This gui is 9 inches (23 centimeters) tall and weighs 23.15 pounds (10 kilograms). It is decorated with a ring pattern.
Gui were used to serve food after it was prepared. Gui such as this were used by wealthy families or ministers when they were entertaining large groups. This is one of four that were excavated at the same time that made up a matching set. This is an unusual and very special find. The gui was excavated in 1984 at Qijiayao Village, Fufeng County, Baoji, Shaanxi. |
