The warriors were originally brightly painted. Archaeologists extrapolate from the different pigments that remained on the statues as they were uncovered to estimate the color and saturation. When you look at the originals, you can still see the hint of coloring that differentiated one soldier from another and one rank from another rank. The elaborate embroidery on the soldier above suggests that he was in a position of command. |
