Jiangnan 江南 - West of Shanghai

This a new hotel not far from the Oriental Green Boat. Such hotels offer low-level employment to rural populations, but little chance for advancement. All over China communities are assessing their opportunities in the growing tourism market as incomes rise and Chinese vacation more frequently and not necessarily by visiting their families. More and more extended families schedule reunions and joint holidays at resort areas or cities of interest. Thus, while distant brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles meet for traditional family holidays, they also are able to explore another area of China. Areas that can offer educational or recreational opportunities for children are often at the top of the list.
