| Originally built in the 14th year of the Guangxu reign in the Qing Dynasty, 1888, the old stage (古戏台) underwent extensive rebuilding in 2005. For the most part, traditional materials and methods were used. It is the most important antique stage in the Jiangnan region “江南第一古戏台”.
It is part of the Inner Garden (内园). The Inner Garden was built in 1709 and was not originally a part of Yu Yuan. It was added to Yu Yuan in 1956. |
