The Lugouqiao Incident
The Marco Polo Bridge Incident
卢沟桥事变

The Marco Polo Bridge attracts many visitors from across China. They come because the Lugou Qiao has an important place in recent history. On July 7th, 1937, the Anti-Japanese war officially started when shots were fired and a battle ensued. The Japanese crossed the bridge and invaded Beijing. The Marco Polo Bridge became as powerful an icon to the Chinese people as Pearl Harbor is to the people of the United States.
