Chaoyangmen
朝阳门

20 年代的朝阳门城楼下的建筑

By the 1920s the areas around the gates to the city had been built up with warehouses, workshops, and stores. It was a natural place for commerce and work. The foot traffic was not only heavy, but many of the people had traveled from a great distance and were ready for a meal. Small shanties and warehouses are shown at the foot of Chaoyangmen Tower.
