Chongwenmen
崇文门

崇文门城楼。
Chongwenmen Gate.

Chongwenmen is to the west of Dongbianmen and gives access to the Inner or Tartar City. The maps showing its location and that of Xuanwumen are below. There are no pictures of Xuanwumen in this series. The three south gates of the Inner City resembled one another. They were built as part of the original fortifications for the Forbidden City. Each had arrow towers added in the 1430s.
