Calligraphy in Official Script

Jin Nong 金农 (1687-1764)
Jin Nong was born in Hangzhou but moved to Yangzhou where he spent his working life. His designated
name was Shoumen 寿门 and his literary name was Dongxin 冬心 . He was both a painter and
calligrapher. As a calligraper he specialized in official or clerical script, creating a variation built upon
official and regular scripts called "lacquer script".
