Wang Wenzhi 王文治 (1730-1802)
Wang Wenzhi was born in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. His designated name was Yuqing 禹卿 and his
literary name was Menglou 梦楼. He was very interested in stone stele and the rubbings from ancient
inscriptions. During the Qing Dynasty there were a number of major archeological finds that renewed
interest in the ancient forms of calligraphy and carving.
