Painted Horse - Funerary Object
彩绘马   随葬品

This painted horse was used as a burial object in the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 AD). Compare it to the tri-colored pottery examples shown on later pages. The tri-colored pottery had an underglaze that embedded rich colors in the piece. The paints that decorated this horse and the camel shown on the next page faded. The structure of the horse's head is correct as well as dramatic.
