The alley market is one of my favorites. Most of the entrepreneurs are just making their start. In the big government owned buildings the vendors are often employees of people who manage chains of booths. These small free markets is where some of the larger chain store owners got their start, others are businessmen who have invested in the tourist trade. You are more likely to benefit the local economy and people in the free markets. And have more fun shopping.
