The detail above shows an overview of the circular houses found at the Banpo Neolithic site in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. Below, the circular area is the remains of what was probably a conical stove that vented through the roof. It would have been made of fire hardened pottery with thick walls. The radiant heat from even a small fire would have been quite cozy. |
