Woman's Gown

The Tang Dynasty Museum has displays of cultural items illustrating life during the dynasty. They have recreated a series of costumes based on the clay funereal figures found in graves. They chose the beautifully embroidered and elaborately detailed clothing of the upper classes. The dress of the lower classes was much simpler. Both upper and lower class women wore seperate tops and skirts. The skirts of the workers were shorter and were worn over pants. The skirts of the upper classes are often shown as trailing on the ground.
