Chinese Astronomy - The Seasons

The seasons could be determined by examining the stars over known landmarks -- at first mountains and then man-made objects. These illustrations from the Beijing Ancient Observatory show the Great Wall as a marker, but seasonal observations were made much earlier than the start of the wall.
