One of the hardest things for a heritage site is to find a balance between the needs of the current population for modern access and the need to maintain an authentic ancient environment. These kids want to play computer games, shoot water pistols, go to school, and have a future that will not resemble their grandparents' lives in the least.
Some will be entrepreneurs, some factory workers, some will own the factories, some will become doctors, lawyers, teachers, but few will fish from traditional boats or make oil by hand. They will want wide screen TV's, fast Internet access, and a modern apartment. A car would be nice. |
