  18. <p><span class="english">It is very easy to form Chinese
  19. questions. One of the question formulas is to place the
  20. interrogative (question particle)</span> <span class=
  21. "hanzi">吗</span> <span class="english">ma</span> <span class=
  22. "english">at the end of a statement. For instance, if</span>
  23. <span class="hanzi">吗</span> <span class="english">ma</span>
  24. <span class="english">is placed at the end of</span> <span class=
  25. "hanzi">你</span> <span class="hanzi">好</span> <span class=
  26. "english">nĭ hăo</span> <span class="english">hello (lit. you are
  27. well) it turns the statement into a question:</span></p>

  61. <p>The answer generally repeats whole sentence (for
  62. politeness) or just the main verb.</p>
  63. <p>我去看朋友。 I am going to see a friend.</p>

  65. <p>NB If you have ma at the end of a sentence, it would be
  66. wrong to use any other interrogative word in the same
  67. sentence as well.</p>

  70. <p>Using the particle ne as an interrogative (it has other
  71. functions too) at the end of a noun phrase (lesson 2 p.10)
  72. means ‘how about ...?’ or ‘with reference to’.</p>
