  13. <p>These constructions are used for general categorisation. They
  14. can describe how a particular</p>
  15. <p>action applies to a general object, as in 我什么东西都吃 wŏ shénme
  16. dōngxi dōu chī I eat</p>
  17. <p>anything; 我哪儿都去 wŏ năr dōu qù I go anywhere. They can also
  18. describe people in</p>
  19. <p>general doing a particular type of thing, as in 谁都喜欢吃中国菜 shuí
  20. dōu xĭhuān chī</p>
  21. <p>Zhōngguó cài everyone likes eating Chinese food.</p>
  22. <p>The question word 什么 shénme what is placed before a noun to
  23. imply any or every, and</p>
  24. <p>can refer to the subject or object of a sentence. If 什么 shénme
  25. any or every is used as the</p>
  26. <p>object, it should be placed before the adverb 都 dōu both, all,
  27. and can be placed before or</p>
