  9. <p>Remembering where to put the time words, such as "yesterday,"
  10. "tomorrow," "this week," etc. in a sentence is really important in
  11. order to speak Chinese correctly. In Chinese you get two equally
  12. correct choices.</p>
  13. <h2 id="structure">Structure</h2>
  14. <p>Time words can appear in one of two positions in the sentence in
  15. Chinese: either at the beginning of the sentence (before the
  16. subject), or directly after the subject. The structures are:</p>

  18. <p><strong>Time</strong> + Subj. + Verb + Obj.</p>

  21. <p>Subj. + <strong>Time</strong> + Verb + Obj.</p>
  22. </div>
  23. <p>So if you start speaking with "time first" English word order,
  24. you can carry on and get away with it. If, however, you're saving
  25. the time word for the <em>end</em> of the sentence, you can be
  26. pretty sure that it doesn't sound at all natural to your Chinese
  27. audience.</p>
