9.
In English we use "and also" when we want to connect separate
10. and different thoughts. We can do the same thing in Chinese by
11. using 还 (hái).

12.
Structure

13.
The adverb 还 (hái) can be used to link two phrases together, in
14. a similar way to "and also" in English. In this case, 还 (hái)
15. begins a new phrase or clause.

60.
The Difference
61. Between 还 (hái) and 也 (yě)

62.
It should be noted that another common way to express "also" is
63. with the word 也 (yě). What's the difference? With 还 (hái), ONE
64. subject is doing TWO different things, whereas when <a href=
65. "The_"also"_adverb_"ye"" title="wikilink">也
66. (yě) is used, TWO subjects are doing ONE thing.

67.
It's the difference between these two English sentences:

68.

69.
He fixed dinner and also washed the
70. dishes.

71.
She washed the dishes too.

72.

73.
If you translated these into Chinese, the first one (one
74. subject, two actions) would use 还 (hái), and the second one (second
75. subject, no new actions) would use 也 (yě). Let's do that!

76.

77.

78.
他 做 了 饭 , 还 洗 了 碗。Tā zuò le fàn,
