  9. <p>了一点儿 (le yīdiǎnr), can be added after an adjective to mean "a
  10. little bit too." It is softer in tone than <a href=
  11. "Expressing_&quot;excessively&quot;_with_tai" title=
  12. "wikilink">using 太</a>, and so is often used when the speaker
  13. doesn't want to insult the listener by speaking too directly.</p>
  14. <h2 id="structure">Structure</h2>
  15. <p>In this structure, the overall effect of the pattern depends on
  16. the preceding adjective. If the adjective in the structure has a
  17. negative meaning, then it is used to show the speaker’s
  18. dissatisfaction (a sort of complaint). If the adjective in the
  19. structure has a positive meaning, then it usually reflects a
  20. change.</p>
