  5. conversations or written material of a controversial nature will be essential to their
  6. mission. As a result, topics in the areas of politics, international relations, mores, etc.,

  8. language training for DLIFLC students. The presence of controversial statements - whether real
  9. or apparent - should not be construed as representing the opinions of the writers, the Defense
  10. Language Institute, Foreign Language Center, or the Department of Defense.</p><p>Actual brand names and businesses are sometimes cited in DLIFLC instructional materials to
  11. provide instruction in pronunciations and meanings. The selection of such proprietary terms
  12. and names is based solely on their value for instruction in the language. It does not
  13. constitute endorsement of any product or commercial enterprise, nor is it intended to invite a
