- Mr. Keller and his wife wish to visit Mr. Köhler and an acquaintance, Vice
- their son in America. They go to the Consul Jones, meet in a restaurant
- American Consulate to apply for a near the consulate. They have a beer
- visitor's visa. Vice Consul Allen in together and Köhler offers Jones
- the Visa Section interviews them, a cigar. The latter thanks him but
- asks for passport, identification, explains he only smokes a pipe,
- where they are going, etc. Köhler also prefers a pipe and Jones
- offers him his tobacco. He asks Köhler what he's doing in this part of town, and Köhler tells him he is planning a business trip to the U.S. and needs a visa.
