  20. PREFACE
  21. This second volume of the FSI German Basie Course, designed to follow directly the first volume published in 1961, is dedicated to the late SAMUEL A. BROWN. Before his death Dr,Brownhad substantially finished his work on units 13-21, which were prepared as a prepublication release early in 1965 under the direction of Dr, Ronald A, C. Goodison, Chairman of the Department of North and East European Languages. The final units and the glossary have been prepared, in the spirit of the notes left by Dr, Brown, under the direction of Dr, William R, van Buskirk,
  22. The dialogs and drill materials were prepared by Mrs, Maria-Luise Bisson-nette, Mr, Friedrich Lehmann, Mrs, Margarete Plischke and Mrs, Erika Quaid, Mrs, Quaid also typed this entire volume in its final form. The tape recordings to accompany the text were recorded in the studio of the FSI language laboratory under the supervision of Mr, Gary Alley,
  23. The work thus completed was the principal writing project of Dr, Brown’s last years and is offered, by all who shared in the work, as a monument to his memory.
