Hall of Preserving Harmony 保和殿
Dragon Stone Stairway

The Hall of Preserving Harmony 保和殿 (Bǎo Hé Diàn) has the longest stairway in the Forbidden City. From the top it leads down to the Gate of Heavenly Purity 乾清门 (Qiánqīng Mén) to the north. It marks the end of the Outer Court, the most formal section of the Forbidden City. The stair is actually divided into three sections. The top two sections are divided by landings. At each landing the slope of the stair increases slightly.
