Hall of Preserving Harmony 保和殿
Stone Stairway

The dragon head in the top section of the stone stairway of the Hall of Preserving Harmony 保和殿 (Bǎo Hé Diàn) is centered and raised above the surface of the base. To create such a strong relief, the original stone must have been quite thick. Most of it was cut away, leaving just the dragon to stand out to show its power over the waters and clouds. Dragons play the length of the stair, but this dragon oversees it all.
