Beijing Underground City 北京地下城

The top picture was taken in 2004 and bottom in 2008. The exit sign was changed for one that glows in the dark, but the thing to notice is how much of the fresco had disappeared. The strength of the frescoes comes, in part, from their simplicity. They draw on many of the classic revolutionary gestures, but have a reality of motion that brings them to a higher level of artistry. The groupings are exceptionally well balanced.
