Lin Biao 林彪 (Lín Biāo, 1907 – 1971) is pictured on the far left attending a parade at Tian'anmen Square.
Below, Sun Yat-sen (1866 – 1925) is shown in an anniversary memorial picture. Sun Yat-sen 孙逸仙 (Sūn Yìxiān) was the founder of the Guomindang, the political party that overthrew the Qing Dynasty in 1911. In China, he is respectfully called 孫中山 Sūn Zhōngshān, as he was the first provisional President of the Republic of China. There are many parks, roads, and bridges called Zhong Shan in his honor, both in the People's Republic of China and in the Republic of China. |
