| The bike remains a daily part of living in the hutongs. Elsewhere, many people are now afraid to ride their bikes because the traffic is so bad on the many high speed roads criss-crossing Beijing. Below, someone is still raising plants, even though their time in the hutong will be brief. Normally, the little open spaces in the hutongs are bristling with plants and bird cages. |
