Staff

All of the caregivers are Chinese. In addition, there are gardeners, maintenance people, and teachers. There are doctors and nurses on duty at all times. The members of the staff hold paid positions. There are administrators and staff members who are volunteers from many different countries. The young woman who showed me around had been there three years but was planning to return to the States to get her Master's and start her career.

Many volunteers come for shorter periods of time. They do their own fund raising to support their positions and occupy various clerical or management positions. Their work with the children is kept general because they will leave. Providing a stable emotional environment for the kids is one of the fundamental goals of the village.
