Food at the Temple Fair at Ditan 地坛

These are bowls of tea. In the first row, from the left, they are called Cha2 Tang1 (gruel of millet flour and sugar - sugar tea), Xing4ren2er Cha2 (almond tea), Nai3 Cha1 (milk tea), and Qiao3keli4 (chocolate tea) In the second row, from the left, Ling2jiao Cha2 (water caltrop or water chestnut tea) and You2 Cha2 (stir-fried flour - oil tea).

Sugar tea, water chestnut tea, and oil tea were considered luxurious foods in the old days, especially when a new mother didn't have her own milk to feed her baby, one of them would be used as a substitute to feed the baby. They are still drunk for their nutritional value in addition to their rich and unique flavors.
