One of the activities that provides fascination is the sugar man. I don't know what else to call him in English, the translation of the Chinese is maker of sugar figurines. The art is called 捏糖人 (niētángrén) or make sugar figurine. He creates animals from sugar by the process used by glass blowers, but somehow, calling him a sugar blower could be open to misinterpretation. I have met him before and this time I had him make me a horse. Below, there is an example of a serpent twined around a stick. |
