Du Fu's Poem

Du Fu's Poem
1 of 3
Tang Shunzhi
唐顺之 (1507-1560)
Cursive script
Tang Shunzhi was born in Changzhou, Jiangzu Province. His designated name is Yingde
应德 and
his literary name is Jingchuan
荆川. This is an example of cursive script. The strokes are combined
by keeping the brush on the paper. In some cases a stroke is only indicated by a lengthening
of the line. Cursive and wild cursive, often called "grass" allow great emotional content, not
only by the form of the character but by its position and strength. Tang Shunzhi wrote this poem
for his younger brother in 1554 when he was 48.
