A second project of the Qin was the building of a canal to link the Yangtze with the northern rivers. By bridging the gap travel could be quickened and allow commerce between the north and south to flourish. It also made the administration of such a huge and diverse area more efficient.
At the same time he expanded the territory ruled by the Qin Dynasty south beyond the Chu State to include areas of northern Vietnam. |
