| Tri-colored glazed pottery
The tri-colored glazed pottery 三彩 (sāncǎi) was introduced in the Tang Dynasty and allowed a much richer expression of art in various forms of pottery. Shape and form also developed with finer details and experiments with different types of clays. Tang tri-colored pottery was only made for about a hundred years but was copied with different colors and formulas during the Song and the Liao dynasties. The kilns that were used for the Tang tri-color pottery have yet to be found. |
