| Most tourists in Tongli are Chinese who live in cities, especially Shanghai. Until recently they did not have either the time nor the leisure to explore the countryside. Tongli Village and other sites like it will provide a real piece of history for generations to come. The development of both rural and urban China is happening so fast that there is no time to marshal support to retain anything but the most famous or most marketable sites. |
